Acrobat XI hogging memory
Acrobat XI, for reasons unknown, contains a Messenger service that attempts to sync with an Adobe server and retrieve information.
Should the main Adobe window close *before* a response is received (as it happens sometimes, especially, I guess, in high-traffic hours), the blessed Messenger prevents Adobe from halting and enters a killer loop hogging all the core time it can get its grubby hands on.
Solution: disable messages altogether.
